About the Course

Investment banking isn't one specific service or function. It is an umbrella term for a range of activities: underwriting, selling, and trading securities (stocks and bonds); providing financial advisory services, such as mergers and acquisition advice; and managing assets. Investment banks offer these services to companies, governments, non-profit institutions, and individuals. Wealth management is a professional service, which is the combination of financial/investment advice, accounting/tax services, and legal/estate planning. In general, wealth management is more than just investment advice, as it can encompass all parts of a person's financial planning.

Objective

To give an overall understanding of investment banking.
Provide students a detailed introduction to the products offered by an investment bank as well as related regulations governing the practices of investment banking and wealth management.
